Dr Matthias Mück

Head of Space Segment – Responsive Space Cluster Competence Center. German Aerospace Center (DLR)

Speaker profile

Matthias Mück joined DLR’s Responsive Space Cluster Competence Center (RSC³) in 2022 as Department Head. In this role, he is responsible for the development of the research strategy of the Space Segment at RSC³ and for the derivation of a technology roadmap for a resilient critical space infrastructure.

Prior to that, Matthias held various management positions within the European space industry in Germany and France. Previously, he was Head of Intellectual Property at Europe’s launcher company ArianeGroup where he was tasked with the management of strategic IP assets to secure the company’s business interests and innovative potential. Before that, Matthias was Programme Manager for the launch service provider Eurockot, a joint venture of ArianeGroup, and oversaw the satellite launches of several ESA / EU Copernicus missions.

Matthias has a professional background as GNC System Engineer (Airbus Defence and Space) and as Flight Dynamics Engineer (European Space Operations Center) and holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Mainz.

Matthias is Chairman of the German Canadian Concourse, a platform for transatlantic exchange on innovation trends.
