Speaker profile

Dr. Carina Kern is Founder and CEO of LinkGevity, an AI-driven biotech company based at the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge. With a background in Biochemistry, Evolutionary Biology and Genetics, Dr. Kern’s previous work is known for identifying key mechanisms of aging and lifespan extension in laboratory models and evaluating likelihood of translation to humans. Her latest research harnesses AI to explore and target biological pathways involved in aging and cell death, leading to the development of a pioneering Anti-Necrotic platform with broad implications for both terrestrial and space medicine. This technology, which addresses the critical challenge of necrosis (i.e. unprogrammed cell death), is poised to transform long-duration space missions by enabling advancements in cryopreservation, organoid preservation, artificial organ growth, and kidney protection. Beyond her work at LinkGevity, Dr. Kern serves as the Scientific Chair of the global CleanTech Challenge at London Business School and is the President of the London Evolutionary Research Scientific Network.
