Making Space for Everyone: how can we increase accessibility, inclusivity and flexibility in the Space sector?

Get with the Program Roundtable
12th September 2024   |   14:00 - 15:00

Synopsis: ‘Making Space for Everyone’ is a roundtable which draws together existing initiatives to increase accessibility and inclusivity in the UK Space sector. In particular, we’ll focus on the variety of ways that we can increase and encourage flexible working opportunities, to ensure that everyone’s needs are met for a truly inclusive working environment. This first roundtable will consist of a number of facilitated discussions amongst a small group of attendees, with the specific questions to be decided by the wider Space community. Your insight and input will be invaluable to the discussion and ensure that everyone’s views are represented.

This is therefore an open call for your input on the questions you’d like to be raised. Please submit your questions here – we look forward to incorporating as many as possible!

A number of topics are already committed to the agenda, including:

  • How can the UK Space industry make itself more accessible?
  • How and what accommodations can we make to enable a level playing field for all?
  • What would we like to see companies do as standard in terms of accessibility?
  • How can parents and carers access the flexibility they need for a young or ageing family?
  • What can we do on an individual level to improve the workplace for colleagues?

Following the small group roundtable sessions, we’ll consolidate the results into a summary document, sharing it with those involved and all interested parties concurrently through a single feedback route. Outcomes will also be fed back into other initiatives, e.g. the Space Skills Alliance and the RISE Together initiative, to ensure that all suggested actions are shared. Thank you so much for your participation, and for helping us to Make Space for Everyone!

Target Audience: We’d like to hear from everyone who works in the UK Space sector or has a connection to it. Your input is invaluable, whatever your level or role, from junior employees to senior leaders, HR professionals and DEI employees.

Qualifications/Experience: Open to all.

Speakers:
